Blog 2 "You have to change to stay the same" de Kooning It seems that every teacher I’ve had painted realistically, almost slavishly to the subject in front of them. So that’s what I strived for. Unexpectedly, after years of painting that way, my own style(s) showed up. Surprise! I don’t want to define my style(s), I want to encourage my paintbrush to fly. And even though my style is rooted in realism, I am striving for something more. I have a few artists whom I adore for their singular styles. One of them is Randall David Tipton. I won’t label him a surrealist, an abstract painter or whatever he does (debatable). One of the places that Randall loves to paint plen aire is Bryant Woods in Lake Oswego, Oregon. To the right is a rare tonal painting. You can see more of his work at: www.randalldavidtipton.com Just to see his range, here is another painting (and another of my favorites). Randall is a poetic artist.
